About Us

The Martial Arts Fitness Center

We are a martial arts school for children and adults.  We are located on 4419 4th Street NW, one block south of 4th and Griegos.  We enjoy being able to teach students self-defense, self-discipline, physical fitness, confidence, while giving them something productive and bigger to be a part of.  We think it is very important for children to find positive hobbies at a young age and offering martial arts in our area is a great way to steer children into positive peer influence that will teach them life lessons.

Mr. De La O has been training since he was 8 years old.  He is a fourth degree black belt in kenpo karate as well as a PE teacher for public schools.  Mr. De La O has dedicated his life to teaching children the life lessons that martial arts has taught to him.  Self confidence and physical fitness are the two things De La O has most benefited from his Martial Arts training.  "when I started martial arts I was short and round with low self confidence, I couldn't even do one push up, now I do 100 push ups everyday and I try to get my students to those same levels."

Esperanza Coca- Martial Arts Instructor

Ms. Coca started karate when she was 9 years old. She soon after began assisting with teaching the younger students. She is a third degree black belt. Ms. Coca found that giving back to her community has been the most rewarding aspect of her martial arts training. "I have been teaching kids since I was a kid myself, and I couldn't imagine doing anything else with my life." Ms. Coca is not just a teacher of martial arts, she also teaches special education math and an Albuquerque middle school.
